Childhood Friends & Masters of Maceration
The Origin Story
Growing up With the Mountains
Argalà was created in 2011 by Piero and Enrico - two childhood friends and classmates who grew up together in Boves, Italy. Inspired by their unique alpine environment, the idea for Argalà goes back many years to when they were boys. After getting their start in a makeshift liqueur factory in their grandparents’ house, they now operate out of a countryside barn on the foothills of the Maritimes Alps.
Argalà’s journey began with their first flagship liqueur, Pastis, which uses star anise as its main ingredient. They wanted to draw a star on the label, but when the sketch turned out to look more like a dog, they made it bark “Argalà!” Argalà means satisfied - but not an ordinary kind of satisfaction. It is the peace of mind and happiness that is felt when you have a well-set table, a glass in hand, and friends around to toast with.
Bottling the Italian Alps
Argalà’s choice of raw materials is a fundamental part of their production process. They combine quality wheat distillate with water, plants and flowers from the slopes of the mountains and organic herbs that are grown in front of their distillery or by local farmers. Since the beginning all of their spirits have been handmade without the need for flavourings, colourings, essences or stabilizers. Argalà stays true to the history and traditions of their region, creating products that truly capture the essence of the Italian Alps.
